GTE/ Sylvania is a defunct manufacturer of electrical distribution equipment. In 1973 GTE/Sylvania purchased the Zinsco Electric company. In 1979 GTE/Sylvania developed a new line of products that they labeled their Challenger Line. GTE/Sylvania was only in this business a short time, since they divested their electrical distribution equipment business unit in 1981, forming the separate Challenger Electric Company.
